Decision on the future of the Elizabethan Suite, the Longfield Suite and Ramsbottom Civic Hall

Following a consultation on a proposal to permanently close all three civic venues, the feedback from this consultation was considered at the council's Cabinet meeting on 30 June 2021.

Cabinet noted the results and feedback generated from the public consultation and having regard to the views received, approved the future of the civic venues as follows.

Ramsbottom Civic Hall

To re-open (without a catering/beverage function) once the Vaccination Centre has ceased, and when covid restrictions allow. Its longer term future to be considered as part of future regeneration plans for Ramsbottom.

The Longfield Suite

To remain closed and be replaced by a new events and community space, to be provided by the redevelopment of Prestwich town centre. The sprung dance floor to be retained and preserved for future use at an alternative venue in the borough. The memorial wall to be relocated as part of the regeneration and development of Prestwich.

The Elizabethan Suite

To re-open (without a catering/beverage function), once the Vaccination Centre has ceased, and when covid restrictions allow. Its longer term future to be considered alongside options for the future of Bury Town Hall.

Please note:

Although there will be no catering function at either Ramsbottom Civic Hall or the Elizabethan Suite, outside caterers will be welcomed for bookings made.

Please note: In support of our response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Elizabethan Suite and Ramsbottom Civic Hall are currently in use as COVID-19 vaccination centres.
