Improving Intermediate Care Services in Bury

We (Bury Council and NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)) are seeking views from people living in Bury, local health and care professionals and other interested parties on the proposal to make changes to the way we deliver intermediate care services.

People in Bury don’t have the same opportunity to access home-based intermediate care compared to other areas in the country. This is because there is an over reliance on bed-based care that has resulted in the lack of development of home-based care.

We want local people to have the option to receive personalised care in their own home where it is safe and appropriate to do so. We know that home-based care offers the best opportunity to regain independence and prevents, reduces and delays the need for care.

Our proposal aims to address this imbalance and we would welcome your views on this proposal before we make a decision.

You can access more information and detail on the background to the proposal in a paper that was discussed at our Strategic Commissioning Board, a joint Bury Council and NHS Bury CCG committee, access the paper here.

To capture your views and feedback before any decision on the proposal is made, a period of public consultation will run for 6 weeks from 19th October 2020 until 30th November 2020.
