Use of rapid lateral flow tests for COVID-19 by school age children and their parents in Bury
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
Dear parent,
Bury Council is keen to understand the use of regular lateral flow COVID-19 tests by school children and their families.
You may know that since September 2021 number of children with COVID-19 have been high. Regular testing using rapid lateral flow tests is one way to reduce the risk of outbreaks of COVID-19 in schools and other settings. They work by helping to find people who might be infectious with COVID-19 but might not have symptoms. As many as one in three people with COVID-19 don’t experience symptoms. And even those who do get symptoms can infect other people before their symptoms develop. Identifying infectious people early can help to stop them passing their infection to others. In schools, this means fewer children getting COVID-19, and fewer days off school ill or isolating.
We have developed a short questionnaire to help us to understand how much parents and children are using these tests and any reasons why parents and children are using them. The questionnaire should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Any information you give us will be anonymous and will be treated in strict confidence. We will analyse all the responses we get and then destroy the raw data.
We want to hear from people who are not using these tests as much as people who are so we can understand reasons for using or not using the tests.
